Since being established in 1997, e-2 has developed a series of powerful new works, seeking to develop the potential of the internet and other digital media as significant sites for contemporary art and culture. Artists are invited to explore the conceptual space of the internet, and to create new works which challenge accepted views of art and its contexts.

e-2 works closely with artists, from the germ of an idea, through the whole commissioning process, giving both curatorial and technical support and has built up an impressive track record of works - from Janice Kerbel's irreverent and intelligent take on time-share rip-offs, to Tomoko Takahashi's take on word processing systems. Takahashi's Word Perhect formed part of her Turner Prize nomination in 2000 - the first digital work to be recognised by such a prestigious award in the UK.
